Alisson Becker Likely Out for Weeks After Hamstring Injury

Liverpool have suffered a big setback following Alisson Becker’s latest injury.

During the Reds’ 1-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday, 5 October, the 32-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper sustained a hamstring injury. This resulted in him being substituted in the 79th minute with Vitezslav Jaros.

This follows Alisson’s return to training with Liverpool last month after experiencing a similar hamstring injury.

Coach Arne Slot stated that Alisson will have a scan to evaluate the extent of this latest injury, though he thinks the shotstopper will be out of action for a “few weeks.”

“We have to wait and see, but it will be a few weeks for him to be back,” said Slot in a post-match interview. “He’s clearly our No. 1; he’s the best goalkeeper in the world. It’s always a blow when he gets injured, not only for him, but [for] us as a team.”

As a result, Alisson is expected to miss Liverpool’s English Premier League match against Chelsea on 20 October, along with their UEFA Champions League encounter with RB Leipzig on 23 October.
